General Information

Originally, I was called FeistySpinach on Roblox, but “feisty” can swing from spirited to a tad too spicy. So I decided to switch to “brainy” – because munching on spinach gives you a tonne of brain-boosting antioxidants like lutein, keeping your mind sharp and focussed!

Roblox is a global platform where millions of people gather together every day to imagine, create, and share experiences with each other in immersive, user-generated 3D worlds. The types of gameplay on Roblox are just as limitless as the imagination of the creators themselves.

Click here for the Roblox ‘Families’ page, a useful resource they’ve created for anyone new to Roblox!

Here’s a quick link to my Roblox Community, so that you can explore all my games on Roblox.

Make sure to join our community too! By joining, it allows me to send Robux to your child during their classes for completing any Maths activities or challenges they’ve taken part in during my Roblox Maths Classes. Keep in mind, that there’s a two-week waiting period before I can start sending Robux, so the sooner you join, the sooner the fun and rewards begin!

To set up a Roblox account for your child in advance follow the Roblox account set-up guide. To ensure their safety on Roblox outside of my lessons, please read my Roblox safety guide on Roblox.

I tutor on Roblox because it’s where my students are already having fun, and I believe in meeting them where they’re most engaged! By using a platform they already love, learning feels more like play. I can weave in fun rewards and helpful tips that boost both their gameplay and Maths skills, keeping them motivated and curious.

As there is little need to persuade them to jump onto the platform, Roblox offers a pressure-free environment—no judgment or comparisons—helping to reduce Maths Anxiety and allowing kids to enjoy the learning process without the stress they often experience in school. It’s all about making Maths enjoyable and accessible, and Roblox is the perfect place to do that!

Yes, I do! I specialise in working with students who learn differently, regardless of any labels. Just let me know beforehand so that I can make any possible changes to the class and how I teach it to accommodate your child. I’ll do my level best to ensure they have a comfortable, enjoyable and effective learning experience.

BrainySpinach Maths is ADHD, ASD, PDA & Dyscalculia friendly. As a certified educator with years of SEND experience, I designed my classes to support diverse learning styles. I use gentle, engaging methods to help children focus and thrive on their educational journey.

Tutoring on Roblox is especially beneficial for neurodivergent children, as it provides a space where they can thrive in ways traditional classrooms often don’t. The interactive, hands-on nature of Roblox games captures their attention—essential for children with ADHD, who may struggle to focus in conventional settings. The dynamic gameplay naturally breaks down complex Maths concepts into bite-sized, manageable pieces, making them more approachable and less overwhelming.

For children with autism, including those with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), the ability to choose and control aspects of their learning—such as the pace or direction of their play—can significantly reduce anxiety and resistance. This autonomy helps them engage with the material without feeling pressured or forced.

I also personalise each lesson to meet the individual needs of my students, ensuring that every session is flexible, playful, and project-based. This approach transforms Maths into something fun, rather than a task to complete, helping children build confidence and develop a positive relationship with learning. By blending education with something they already enjoy, Roblox creates an engaging and motivating environment where neurodivergent children can truly flourish.

Safeguarding

In every class, I keep an eye on everything happening in the game, as well as the chat, to make sure everyone is safe and respectful. If a student isn’t being kind or respectful, they’ll get one warning. If the behaviour continues, they might be removed from the class and / or game. Some examples of behaviour that we want to avoid include:

  • Purposefully and repeatedly interrupting others
  • Inappropriate use of chat
  • Saying or doing unkind things
  • Sharing inappropriate content

To keep everyone extra safe, I provide private servers where only my students can join. If anything makes a student uncomfortable, they can easily block or report a player through the game, giving them full control of their experience. I also regularly check in with parents to keep them updated on their child’s progress, especially if there are any concerns about safety or behaviour. This ensures that everyone feels supported both at home and in class.

For more info, read my safeguarding policy, as well as the reporting form.

Students under the age of 18 must be represented by a parent or legal guardian who gives consent for them to enrol in a class delivered by me. I am not responsible for any dispute between a person under the age of 18 and a parent or guardian.

Online Tutoring & Classes

Yes, I offer privately funded 1:1 classes for £50 p/h and £60 p/h for LA funded classes. The LA rate is a little higher because it covers termly reports, an annual review, and up to 3 hours of meetings each term with other professionals. The waiting list for regular 1:1 classes is pretty long at the moment unfortunately, I’d be happy to add you to it though if you like!

In the meantime, to help introduce children to the Maths Anxiety and Roblox Let’s Play classes, I’ve started offering temporary 1:1 introductory Classes on a Friday morning – they’re perfect if your child feels nervous or just needs a bit of time to settle into the BrainySpinach Maths Class experience. You can book up to 3 classes per child. If that’s something you’d be interested in, I can send you the link.

Online tutoring with me is like having your child’s favourite family-friendly YouTuber turn into their personal Math teacher, right in your living room! The classes are typically lively and engaging, designed to make learning feel like a fun interactive show.

To see how I make Maths exciting and to enjoy some educational (or just plain fun) content that your child will love – check out my YouTube channel!

After years of teaching both in-person and online, I’ve seen firsthand that online tutoring often proves more effective for many students. They get to learn and play in the cosy comfort of their own home and find classes highly interactive & fun without being overwhelmed by the usual classroom distractions. Kids also get to make new friends they wouldn’t have met at school from all over the country, broadening their horizons. This blend of comfort, excitement, and social expansion is a game-changer in a child’s learning journey.

Each class kicks off with a friendly hello before diving straight into the game. In the Maths Anxiety Classes, we mix things up every 4–6 weeks, with games ranging from tower defense tycoons to survival strategy adventures and business simulators – all with plenty of fun and Maths woven into the gameplay. For Let’s Play Classes, we stick to the game we’re focusing on for that session. We wrap up with feedback and a summary of any Robux earned.

The heart of our classes is to make learning through Roblox a fun, engaging experience! Our goal is simple: if your child enjoys the class and it’s content, then we’ve succeeded! Drawing on my background in special education and the home education philosophy, I use playful learning methods and self-directed projects, allowing children to explore their own interests and learn at their own pace.

Our fun Roblox classes are designed to focus primarily on the passive learning of essential skills through play and active enjoyment!

Our classes vary in length between 25 and 60 minutes, depending on whether or not written feedback is being created at the end of the Class. For full details on the length of each class, please check out the dedicated Roblox Classes page!

The aim of my classes is to help students feel confident and excited about Maths time 😊. We don’t tackle Maths in the usual way—there’s no direct teaching of equations or reasoning tasks, as that can be overwhelming. Instead, Maths is gently woven into the games we play, helping students build skills without realising they’re doing it.

My Maths Anxiety Classes focus directly on helping students feel more confident with Maths, using fun games like business simulators. A great game example is Busy Business, a fun simulation game where students run and grow their own company. They serve customers, upgrade machines, and make smart money decisions as their business expands. Along the way, they naturally use place value, addition, subtraction, rounding and estimation.

They also explore practical money skills like budgeting, working with decimals and percentages, and interpreting leaderboards. As they move through the game, the Maths challenges become more complex—encouraging deeper thinking, strategy, and real-world problem-solving, all in a fun and supportive environment.

My Let’s Play Classes on the other hand, are all about fun and social gameplay, without any direct Maths teaching from me. But Maths still shows up naturally as part of the game – like figuring out the best rod to use to catch a fish when comparing their statistics in Fisch, or working out how many crewmates you have left before the imposters outnumber you in Among Us.

Together, both class types help children build a positive relationship with Maths at their own pace, while having a great time!

All of my classes are built so that children can join in no matter their current level of Maths. This helps take the pressure off and makes the experience feel safe, relaxed, and fun. Everyone plays the same game together, but each child engages with different parts depending on what they’re ready for—some stick to the simpler challenges, while others naturally take on the more complex ones.

A perfect example of this is when we’ve played the game Zach’s Service Station—a tycoon-style game where students run a busy petrol station. They take on jobs like fuelling cars, managing the car wash, checking stock levels, and making sure the business stays profitable. To help things run smoothly and reduce stress, I’ve added three ‘bot’ helpers that students can direct and manage, so they’re never overwhelmed during rush hour.

For children still building their confidence, the game gently introduces Maths through activities like counting, adding and subtracting small numbers, comparing prices, reading numbers on tills and menus, and understanding time in hours and minutes. It gives them a chance to practise the basics without even realising it.

At the same time, students who are feeling more confident explore the deeper side of the game. They’ll be calculating profit and loss using decimals, managing larger budgets, working with three-digit numbers, applying multiplication and division when scaling up their business, and interpreting reports to make smarter decisions. The game naturally scales with their ability, and I support them in whichever part they feel ready to engage with.

For those who are ready for more structured Maths, I’m also developing Maths Missions—a new class where children can practise core Maths skills from Early Years up to Key Stage 2, all through custom-designed Roblox games. These Classes will offer more direct Maths tasks, still delivered in a fun, hands-on way, and will be the first of their kind on the platform. My existing games already include more Maths than any other educational Roblox experience—but I’m only just getting started!

I used to run some Roblox Maths Classes for up to 90 minutes. Unfortunately, I found it was hard to keep up the exciting gameplay consistently for that long, which then would often lead to my students disengaging towards the end of the class. The most learning was always done in the first 20-30 minutes, so I figured that would be the best class length going forward!

Additionally, shorter lessons are highly beneficial for younger students and those with difficulties concentrating for longer periods. They are also much easier to squeeze into a busy homeschooling and home education timetable!

If the booked class hasn’t begun, then I’m more than happy to switch your child to another class if the time, day, or content doesn’t quite suit your child! Just let me know, and I’ll see what I can do for you. However, I won’t be able to refund the Class if it’s already taken place, as that place could have been given to another child.

If the class is more than 24 hours away, I’m happy to help you reschedule to another available time that works better! If it’s less than 24 hours, I can still reschedule, but I might not be able to do it until after the class has ended. Just let me know when you’re free, and I’ll make it happen as soon as I can.

Once the class has started, I can only reschedule if there are technical issues preventing access, or if there’s a behaviour-related challenge that makes it hard for your child to participate. I’m always here to support and ensure the class experience is positive and enjoyable!

If the class has already taken place and none of the above applies, unfortunately, I won’t be able to reschedule it. But don’t worry—if you need help finding a time for future classes, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to assist!

If you cancel a booked Class or Session any time up to the scheduled start-time, we will automatically apply Credit equal to 100 % of the Class or Session fee to your account by issuing a one-use voucher code for the same value. This keeps the slot income-neutral for us while giving you the full amount to re-book another lesson.

Alternatively, if at the time of cancellation you provide us with the date and time you would like to re‑book, we can reschedule the Class or Session for you manually without issuing a voucher or providing Credit.

If you wish to receive a cash refund instead of Credit, you must notify us within 14 days of the Credit being issued; we will refund the unused balance by the same payment method, less the non-refundable card processing charge. These deductions equal our direct costs of handling the refund.

If you do not attend a Class Or Session and have not cancelled or contacted us in advance, you will not be entitled to any Credit or re-booking for that Class or Session.

Technical Aspects

Online tutoring is simple to set up! You’ll need a reliable high-speed internet connection and a computer equipped with a webcam and microphone – most modern computers have these, but it’s good to test them beforehand.

For a typical class, I recommend my student uses two different devices:

Device One – Choose and fully charge the device your child will use to join the live part of the class, where they’ll be able to see and hear me (and any other students), using the link from your booking email. I recommend a device that can run Google Chrome and has a built-in webcam and microphone—laptops or tablets usually work best. If they’re shy, it’s absolutely fine to keep the mic or webcam off—just let me know beforehand. I’m also happy to send over a test link so you can try out the interactive whiteboard setup ahead of time.

Device Two – Choose and fully charge the device your child will use to play Roblox on, preferably the device they’re most used to playing Roblox with. This can be a mobile, tablet, PC, laptop, Xbox or Playstation – the first four in that list are usually the easiest to use.

When both devices are good to go, they’ll be playing Roblox whilst still able to see and interact with me and any other student they like!

For detailed guidance on how to prepare for your first Class, please have a read through the setup guide I’ve put together. If you encounter any issues or have questions, feel free to reach out to me via email or WhatsApp.

Besides having Roblox and a browser to use, nothing at all!

The very first step I always recommend is to simply refresh the page or close the internet browser you’re using completely and then rejoin.

If refreshing the page didn’t solve the occurring issue, it might be the browser you are using. Lessonspace works best on Google Chrome, but it also works well on Mozilla Firefox from my experience. The most bug-filled experience is typically on Safari, the default browser on Apple products – I highly recommend downloading Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox if you are planning on using that.

If your microphone and/or webcam don’t seem to be working, it’s most likely because your browser has blocked the use of it. Normally you can resolve this by clicking on the button just to the left of where it says “thelessonspace.com”, and toggling the device not working back on.

FAQ

If you’re struggling to connect your device to Roblox and/or LessonSpace, it might be that your bandwidth is low – please try the following instructions provided by Google.

I highly recommend having at least 25 Mbps download speed and 3Mbps upload speed, or 10 /2 at the absolute minimum.

If you find your speed is lower than this, you can do multiple things – move the router at least 50cm away from any other electrical device, close down other tabs or program on the device you’re using for classes, or even switch off other devices hogging bandwidth during the class.

If something that isn’t listed here has gone wrong, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via email or WhatsApp so that I can figure out how I can help. I will respond as soon as possible!

Payments

To see any up-to-date cost for each class, click here, and select the classes you’re interested in to be taken through to its dedicated page.

I collect all payments through Stripe, prior to a class taking place.

Honestly, I wish I could deliver all of my classes for free, in just the same way my games on Roblox are free to use, and always will be. A lot goes into creating those games though, as well as my classes – I have a wonderful team working with me behind the scenes (I’m not just a one-man band anymore), and that’s how I’m able to deliver an even better learning experience than ever before.

I also don’t want to be cliché and cite the cost of living crisis as a reason, but inevitably it’s meant increased costs across the board in delivering all of my services. I can’t escape that, much as I’d like to, and I promise I’m doing my best to keep things as affordable as possible whilst maintaining the high quality and fun my classes are known for.

Yes, you can check out all our special offers here.

While we don’t always offer ongoing discounts, it’s important to me that learning opportunities are accessible. That’s why the games I create on Roblox are completely free to play and always will be. They include lots of helpful tips and content, so even if our classes aren’t in the budget right now, your family can still enjoy and learn from what we’ve made available for free.
