The Math Obby 3 is a Roblox obstacle course (“Obby”) created specifically for Maths Missions, where Maths practice is built directly into the gameplay. Students complete Maths challenges as they progress through the Obby, earning Brainy Bux, unlocking pets and other rewards, and working their way through different stages as their confidence grows — turning Maths practice into part of the adventure rather than a separate task.
Maths Missions Level 2 roughly corresponds to the UK Year 1 and Year 2 Maths curriculum and begins working much more directly with the four operations. Addition starts with numbers from 1–10, such as 5 + 4, before moving into 11–20 and gradually working up towards 50, with subtraction developing in the same step-by-step way. At this level, addition and subtraction stay within each group of ten, so students won’t yet need to cross into the next ten with questions such as 18 + 5 or 33 − 6. We’ll also begin exploring multiplication and division by 2, 5 and 10.
Designed with learning anxiety in mind, The Math Obby 3 encourages students to experiment, make mistakes and try again without the pressure of traditional worksheets or written exercises. Throughout the class, I support students with different strategies, explanations and prompts as we work towards building their confidence, understanding and independence with Maths.
Not sure which level to choose? I recommend starting with Maths Mission Level 1. Beginning with familiar Maths gives students the opportunity to experience early successes, build confidence and create a positive foundation before progressing through Maths Missions.
